Semicolon Café Returns to NoVA with New Falls Church Location

The café previously had a location in Chantilly.

Fans of Semicolon Café no longer have to wait for a trip to New York to enjoy the eatery’s fresh sandwiches and pastries. The café recently opened a new location in Falls Church.

The Falls Church location officially opened on June 25. If you recognize the name, that’s because Semicolon Café was previously located inside Chantilly’s Tilly Kitchen. The Chantilly storefront closed its doors about a year and a half ago, according to ARLNow.

Originally based out of New York, the café is best known for its freshly baked brioche sandwiches. The menu includes nine varieties including avocado, B.E.L.T., and mushroom. Our food critic tried the bulgogi sandwich when she visited the Chantilly location back in January 2022. Here’s what she had to say about the sandwich:

“The thin slices of tender beef weren’t as deeply marinated as I might have hoped, but still betrayed a pleasantly garlicky sweetness that played extraordinarily well with the soft, lightly sugared brioche. Tomatoes and green leaf lettuce (the sandwich makers left off the onions) added a bit of fresh crunch, but were mostly an afterthought. This is a sandwich that is all about beef, eggs, and a bit of mayo-like ‘bulgogi sauce.’ And yes, it should absolutely be on our state flag.”

In addition to the brioche sandwiches, Semicolon Café serves a variety of drinks, including coffee, matcha, lattes, smoothies, tea, and fruity drinks it calls “ades.” It also serves bingsoo, which is Korean milk shaved ice, and pastries and other baked sweets.

The Falls Church café is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 130 Founders Ave., Falls Church
