Chocolate lovers take note. Carnegie Diner is returning to Taste of Vienna’s annual food festival to host its second annual cake eating competition.
The Annual OMG 24-Layer Cake Competition will have participants racing to see who can eat a slice of the diner’s 24-layer chocolate cake the fastest. The winner will receive a $1,000 gift card to Carnegie, a $500 check, and a bragging rights T-shirt.
Make sure you have a hankering for sweets before you sign up for this challenge. The diner’s iconic cake features alternating layers of chocolate cake and chocolate filling, topped with smooth French semisweet chocolate ganache and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
Those interested in joining the competition can fill out the registration form. Applications are due by Friday, April 17. All participants must follow Carnegie Diner on Facebook and Instagram and be 21 and older in order to compete.
The competition will be held at Taste of Vienna on April 25. The food festival will be hosted at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. In addition to Carnegie Diner, more than 30 restaurants and food trucks will be in attendance, including Texas Donuts, Ned’s New England Deck, and Inca Social. The festival will also include a beer and wine tent, live performances, and kids’ activities.
Admission is free, but attendees must purchase food and beverages separately. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. 400 Center St. S., Vienna
