Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern Wins NoVA Wars: Cheesesteak Edition

The Herndon pub beat Celebrity Delly and 14 others in the battle for the best cheesesteak in Northern Virginia.

A stalwart in pub food, Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern of Herndon claims the title of Best Cheesesteak in our NoVA Wars: Cheesesteak Edition reader poll.

Readers chose Jimmy’s as the winner through four rounds of bracket-style voting. In the end, it topped Falls Church’s Celebrity Delly for the title.

“We’re absolutely grilled to announce that we’ve been crowned the champions of the NoVA Cheesesteak Wars 2024!” the tavern said in a statement thanking fans. “A huge thank you to everyone who voted for our sizzling, cheesy steak-packed delights.”

But Jimmy’s, which has been around for 26 years, made sure to give a shout-out to “head-to-head competitor Celebrity Delly, for bringing their A-Game and great sportsmanship to the NoVA Cheesesteak Wars. Your passion for cheesesteaks is truly inspiring!”

Jimmy’s Philly Cheesesteak is served on Amoroso rolls shipped fresh from Philadelphia. It’s made with fried onions and your choice of cheese styles: Cheese Whiz, provolone, or white American.

A Facebook post from Jimmy’s announcing the win Monday drew excitement in comments from fans promising to drop in for the sandwich this week.
