14 New Places to Grab Meals, Coffee, or Snacks in NoVA

New cookie and ice cream shops, as well as restaurants where you can grab a lobster roll or noodles have recently opened.

There’s some new additions to the NoVA dining scene that are sure to cause quite a stir. Foodies can dig into tantalizing noodles, signature sandwiches, island-roasted coffee, and classic lobster rolls that are sure to please. Restaurants Now Open: 

Alexandria 

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii brings the aloha spirit to Alexandria, proudly serving blends, 100 percent Kona coffee, espresso drinks, and more. Stop in, take out, or order online. 2466 Mandeville Ln., Alexandria 

Eddie’s Little Shop and Deli

Diners line up for classic and signature sandwiches and greens, freshly made mozzarella, and sausage by the pound at Eddie’s Little Shop and Deli. Grab a sliced ribeye sandwich, turkey and cheddar, or create your own masterpiece. 1406 King St., Alexandria 

Arlington County 

Captain Cookie and the Milkman

Captain Cookie owners Juliann and Kirk Francis say they are saving the world, one cookie at a time. This DC business opened its first NoVA location, offering fresh, made-from-scratch cookies, dairy from local creameries, and made-to-order ice cream sandwiches. 2200 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington 

Haute Dogs and Fries

Like the Alexandria location, Haute Dogs and Fries offers gourmet hot dogs, burgers, brats, and sausage. Grab yourself a classic burger or dog, or live on the edge and orde something fun like a banh mi dog, Betty White burger, or a lobster roll. 2910 N. Sycamore St., Arlington

Moltn Cookies

Gooey, chewy cookies are baked on demand and delivered warm. Try the classic two-ounce cookies or live large and order a premium four-and-half-ounce masterpiece. Ten masterful flavors to tempt you. Moltn Cookies is located inside AllSpice Catering. 6017 Wilson Blvd., Arlington 

Ballston 

Slipstream

Visit for the coffee; stay for the house baked pastries. Slipstream’s new NoVA location draws fans for its compelling coffee creations and seals the deal with all-day breakfast and  lunch options. Pick up some whole bean varieties to brew at home. 4300 Wilson Blvd., Arlington 

Shirlington 

Jeni’s Ice Cream

Jeni’s new ice cream location, the third in NoVA, is in stroll-worthy Shirlington. Try gooey butter cake, brambleberry crisp, buttercream birthday cake, or lemon and blueberries parfait, plus about 20 more to-die-for flavors. 4150 Campbell Ave., Arlington

Fairfax County 

Kimen Ramen & Izakaya

Enjoy Japanese small plates and ramen at this newly opened offshoot of Kimen Ramen & Izakaya’s Annandale sister restaurant. Guests savor a wide ramen selection with options like spicy, miso, or a mazemen soupless variety. The plentiful rice bowls are intriguing. 11725 Lee Hwy., Fairfax 

Ned’s New England Deck

Come visit Ned’s New England Deck for a lobster roll, creamy cup of clam chowder, or a super beef sammie. Dine alfresco at the picnic tables or take it to-go. Try a New England beer with favorites like Lobster Louis salad, steamers, or fish and chips. 10655 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax 

Ruth’s Chris Steak House

This fine-dining steak house recently opened its third NoVA location at Reston Town Center, among its 150-plus locations around the world. It’s known for serving sizzling steaks on 500-degree plates, and visitors can also choose seafood and scratch-made side dishes and desserts. The 7,400-square-foot space features two main dining rooms, two private dining rooms, and outdoor seating. 11990 Market St. Ste. 106, Reston 

Taco Bamba

The ninth Taco Bamba location has officially opened in Herndon. Whether you’re craving a chicken tinga or Afghan Van Damme, a Herndon original, filled with pistachio rice, cliantro chutney, and sweet-and-sour currants, you won’t leave the restaurant with an empty stomach. 2445 Centreville Rd., Herndon

McLean 

Yu Noodles

Those in the know flock to this authentic noodle restaurant, renowned for its soup dumplings and delectable offerings. This new location just opened to rave reviews. Yu Noodles was named one of the area’s 10 best casual dining restaurants for 2022 by The Washington Post. 1690 Anderson Rd., Ste. B, McLean 

Pikoteo

Pikoteo brings the authentic flavors of Latin America to your table, with a menu inspired by the street foods of Puerto Rico, Mexico, Peru, and Cuba. Dig into empanadas, succulent grilled meats, colorful salads, and ceviches. Dine in or take out. 6811 Elm St., McLean 

Prince William County 

Ooh Soo Chicken

Get your crunch on with Woodbridge’s new Asian Fusion and Korean fried chicken destination. Delight in specialties that include jumbo fried shrimp, potstickers, edamame, and bulgogi tacos. Family-style meals are available. 14563 Potomac Mills Rd., Woodbridge

Ellie Bird

The creators of Ellie Bird were raised in Falls Church, and wanted to open a chef-driven and approachable option for a fun dinner out, pre-movie brunch, or weeknight takeaway. This new fast casual restaurant opens April 14. Think PEI mussels, carrot gnocchi, and classic chicken dinner. The restaurant comes from the owners of the Michelin-starred Rooster & Owl in DC. 125 Founder’s Ave., Falls Church
