Great American Restaurants Debuts Fred’s Chicken Shack

One of NoVA’s favorite brands joins the poultry game with a new ghost kitchen.

Fans of Great American Restaurants and crispy poultry, rejoice! The beloved local restaurant group has thrown its hat into the hotly contested fried-chicken ring with a new ghost kitchen, Fred’s Chicken Shack. The first two Fred’s locations are inside Ozzie’s Good Eats in Fairfax and Good Eats Emporium in Sterling.

What’s on the menu? An assortment of favorites already served at GAR eateries. Sandwiches include the fried chicken on a Best Buns roll spread with Pommery mustard that won our raves when we reviewed Good Eats Emporium. But those who crave their chicken with a bit of zing can get their crispy breast tossed in Buffalo sauce. A grilled chicken sandwich is a healthier alternative.

Chicken strips are served either grilled or fried and with or without crispy French fries on the side. Wings are also served fresh from the grill or pulled from the fryer. Fried wings are available in mild, medium, or hot heat levels. Grilled wings are dressed in a quartet of barbecue sauces from the brand’s Stupid Good BBQ: Alabama white, Memphis, Kansas City, and vinegary South Carolina.

It’s not all chicken. There are also burgers for those who are asking, “Where’s the beef?”

Since Fred’s currently exists exclusively as a ghost kitchen, the food is available exclusively for curbside pickup and delivery. // 45990 Waterview Plaza, Sterling; 11880 Grand Commons Ave., Fairfax
