Celebrity Chef Spike Mendelsohn Brings PLNT Burger to Tysons Corner

Beyond Meat patties and links form the core of the vegetarian fast food menu.

NoVA residents know Spike Mendelsohn from his tenure on Top Chef, but also as the culinary force behind Arlington’s Good Stuff Eatery and Springfield’s Vim & Victor. He’s making a name around the region with well-balanced food for an active lifestyle that people actually want to eat. His latest contribution to the world of healthy cuisine is PLNT Burger, an all-vegetarian fast food joint inside Whole Foods stores. A brand-new location, his sixth, opened in the Whole Foods at Tysons Corner last week.

“Bringing PLNT Burger to Virginia via the Whole Foods Market in Tysons Corner is truly a dream come true for our team,” said Mendelsohn, PLNT Burger’s co-founder and culinary director, in a press release. “We are so grateful and humbled by our customers who continue to support our growth and mission to eat the change they wish to see in the world.”

The goal at PLNT Burger is to serve burgers and sandwiches that seem indulgent but aren’t. The basic PLNT Burger includes a single Beyond Meat patty on a Shmidt’s potato bun with fresh veggies, pickles and PLNT sauce. There’s also a burger with mushroom “bacon” and Follow Your Heart vegan cheddar. The sandwich in the photograph above may look like chicken, but it’s composed of mushrooms. There are Beyond Meat sausages too, served with homemade chili and vegan cheese, or with kraut, spicy mustard and relish. On a busy day, PLNT Burger provides a quick and easy way to stay balanced—and have fun with your food. //1635 Boro Place, McLean
