So you’re here to get the scoop—well, we have it.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams’ newest location has officially opened its doors in Old Town Alexandria at 102 S. Patrick St. as of Nov. 13. It’s the company’s first location in Northern Virginia, with the former closest being across the water on 14th Street in Washington, DC.

“Our customers drive where we open shops next,” said Jeni Britton Bauer, founder of the ice cream chain. “We go where they are, and we listen to what they have to say. When we kept hearing about Alexandria from them, we decided to check it out.”

According to Bauer, the new location is a one-story, 1,384-square-foot scoop shop that was designed to maintain its historical charm.

“We make ice cream to bring people together and design our shops as a community gathering place,” says Bauer. “We believe that great ice cream, served in a beautiful space, with attentive service can bring people together and help them connect.”

The space’s design and offerings were also meant to be “cozy and warm,” according to Bauer, making it more appealing during the winter months.

Jeni’s will differentiate itself by serving its signature flavors, such as the shop’s originals, Brambleberry Crisp and Gooey Butter Cake, and rotating seasonal flavors. Homemade waffle cones and ice-cream flights (with up to 10 half scoops for ice cream lovers to devour), will also be available, as well as pints-to-go for those times when you just need an ice cream fix.

As for current seasonal flavors to try, Bauer suggests the following to get you into the holiday spirit: Pumpkin Cake Roll. Boozy Eggnog. Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallows. White Chocolate Peppermint. Cognac with Gingerbread. Have we made your mouth water yet?

Well, now you can walk, run or Metro your way to yet another ice cream location in Alexandria.

“We may not be from the neighborhood, but people quickly find that we make great neighbors,” says Bauer.
