Dish: A trio of soup samplers: strawberry, cantaloupe and yellow gazpacho.
Where: Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro, 11750 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston
Taste: Kind of magical, actually. The cantaloupe and strawberry soups taste fruity and heady. They colors glow in a soft, summery sunset-y way. Are they a little too sweet for dinner? Maybe. But the server sent them after the starters and before dinner, acting like a mid-meal liquid sorbet palate cleanser. (Also—is strawberry soup a thing? I also spied it at Malones in Manassas and my brother, who works in Philly, says food trucks have been selling it all season.)
