Get ready to celebrate the art of the cocktail in Alexandria this week. Old Town Cocktail Week runs through October 6, bringing cocktail classes and other fun events that are focused on the art of a well-crafted drink.
This year, 39 restaurants are participating, offering specialty cocktails, cocktail dinners, or special events throughout the week.
Ada’s On the River is one participant offering a limited-time drink for the occasion. Stop by to try the Peachy Keen Highball, featuring Suntory Toki, apricot, peach tea syrup, and yuzu. Or, head to the a.lounge at Hotel AKA Alexandria to try the King Street Sunset, with Suntory Toki whisky, rum, Campari, turbinado sugar, and lime.

Dog Days of Summer at Hummingbird Bar and Kitchen
September 29, 2:30 p.m.
Take the dogs for a fun afternoon out, and enjoy some bourbon and barbecue while you’re at it. There will be a tasting of three cocktails using Maker’s Mark at the bar inside Hotel Indigo, plus bites from chef Jamie Witzleben. Reservations required. 220 S. Union St., Alexandria, $40
Chef’s Supper Club at King & Rye
October 2, 6 p.m.
In honor of cocktail week, King & Rye will present a six-course meal, paired with Maker’s Mark Whisky. It begins with a welcome bite and a cocktail, then guests are seated for the remaining courses, with dishes including Maryland blue crabcakes, scallops, and smoked pork loin. 480 King St., Alexandria, $129
Blind Japanese Whisky Tasting at RailBird Kitchen
October 3, 5:30 p.m.
Head to RailBird Kitchen to get a taste of Japanese whisky. The event begins with a pour of Yamazaki 12 -Year Single Malt Whisky, then guests will taste three different whiskies paired with small bites. 804 N. Henry St., Alexandria, $40.50
Brugal Tiki Cruise
October 6, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
RailBird Kitchen and Captain Gregory’s will host a boozy cruise of the Potomac aboard the tall ship Providence. Guests will enjoy a 90-minute cruise, a tour of the replica ship, and two cocktails made with Brugal rum. 1A Prince St., Alexandria, $87.50
