Say Hello to Your New Favorite NoVA Gelato Shops

Serving up fresh and creative flavors, these shops are sure to satisfy your sweet treat craving.

Italy’s leaner, meaner cousin to American ice cream features less butterfat, meaning serious flavor unclouded by a glut of cream. Indulge in these craft desserts at some of our favorite gelato spots around NoVA.

Dolcezza

Local farmers and artisans are responsible for this thoroughly wholesome gelato. Whether it’s corn, mint, or peaches, the ingredients are guaranteed to be fresh. That means that flavors change with the seasons, so be ready to find a new favorite with each visit.  2905 District Ave., Fairfax

Dolci Gelati

Pastry chef Gianluigi Dellaccio’s family gelato recipe goes back generations. Still, it’s his experimental streak and focus on premium ingredients that win points from customers. Flavors including carrot, Thai coconut lemongrass, and even bacon grace the counter here. 107 N. Fairfax St., Alexandria

Pitango Gelato

Though classics like hazelnut and pistachio are available, the most exciting flavors at this DMV favorite lean eastward. Think star anise, cardamom, and halvah. But we’re just as excited about the sorbets, particularly the intense dark chocolate. The gelato is churned on site. 11942 Democracy Dr., Reston

Venchi

This Italian chocolate purveyor has been selling the good stuff since 1878. But the gelato, made fresh daily, isn’t just for chocolate purists. Look for flavors including mango, caramel, and coconut, as well as vegan options. 1961 Chain Bridge Rd., Level 2, Tysons
