Barkhaus Is Hosting an Olympics for Dogs. It’s as Cute as You Imagine.

Does your dog have skills and personality? Then sign them up to see if they can win the title of the region’s best dog.

By Michele Kettner July 28, 2021 at 11:22 am

If your household has been all about the Olympics over the past week, you’ll want to sign your dog up for The Dog Games. Hosted by Barkhaus, this competition switches the traditional Olympic competition to a dog-friendly version for the pups of NoVA.

Unlike the traditional 16 days of competition, the dog-friendly bar will host its pint-size competitors for three hours on August 7, from 5-8 p.m.

Throughout the night, the doggie competitors of all sizes will go head to head to earn the most tickets. The dogs in attendance will be able to test their skills by performing the best tricks in their repertoire for a chance to earn tickets from the Barkhaus team members.

If your pup is a little rusty when it comes to tricks, they can also try their hand at the dog costume contest. Support your favorite country and dress in your most patriotic outfit for a chance to win extra tickets. The competition closes at 7:30 p.m., with winners of the Dog Games being announced at 8 p.m.

When your dog isn’t actively going for gold, you can enjoy the delicious food and drink specials for the rare occasion. Plus, there will be plenty of free gifts and giveaways up for grabs for owners and their dogs. This includes free dog medals, a $100 gift card, a year-long membership to the bar, swag for two- and four-legged guests, and even more prizes.

And, if you need any more reasons to attend, Barkhaus will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Special Olympics. 529 E. Howell Ave., Alexandria; free admission
