The majority of schools across Northern Virginia have committed to starting the school year virtually this year. And, while the changes come amid recommendations from health officials and suggestions from local families, that means many parents will have to juggle at-home learning and work for another season.
That’s where sports complex The St. James is stepping in, with the debut of its Ultimate School Day Camp beginning, Tuesday, Sept. 8 and running through Friday, Oct. 30.
The offering is designed for children ages 6 through 15, giving them the opportunity to engage in half- or full-day sessions of active entertainment featuring sporting activities like basketball, swimming, football, soccer, golf, volleyball and more during the week, for up to eight weeks.
All sessions will be limited to 10 students per counselor and all campers will receive daily temperature checks upon arrival at The St. James, and will also be required to wear masks while transitioning between activities.
The St. James has added several safety and healthy protocols to its space as the coronavirus continues to spread. The site has created a mobile app, ensuring members schedule a time to work out or reserve venue space, and is also operating at a limited capacity to meet Virginia’s guidelines.
