The National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center’s annual Innovations in Flight event has returned, offering a day filled with family fun. This popular event will allow visitors to meet pilots and see more than 60 aircraft up close. It will be held on June 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This event features vintage, modern, and commercial aircraft that will fly in and stay on display outside the museum for one day only. Guests will get the chance to talk with pilots and look into planes’ cockpits and cabins. A few highlights include two F-16 aircraft from Joint Base Andrews, a Gulfstream and King Air from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and military, police, and medivac helicopters.
Plus, visitors can also witness an air racer fly into the event and be formally accepted into the Udvar-Hazy collection for the first time.

Inside the museum, as part of the “Soar Together at Air and Space” family day series, kids can learn about the importance of speed with airplane mysteries, a community mural, games, live music, and more. Families can hear from air and space experts from NASA, the NOAA, and Droneresponders.
Food and drink will be available for purchase throughout the day. Free timed entry tickets are required for the outdoor part of the event. The indoor portion is free with no tickets necessary. A full list of activities is available online.
