Students in Fairfax County Public Schools won’t have to worry about logging in for virtual learning days if there is a snow day. Snow days will be snow days.
“For the 2023-24 school year, FCPS will be reverting to its former policy for snow days — there will be no virtual learning days when school is closed due to inclement weather this year. With 11 snow days built into our existing calendar, eliminating virtual learning days will enable us to maximize our in-person learning and provide for equitable access to instruction and student services for each and every one of our students,” writes Superintendent Michelle Reid in her weekly letter to the community.
She encourages people to share ideas for learning during snow days and winter break. The school system will collect ideas via email at [email protected] and will post them on the school system’s website.
Students, Reid said, may still access Tutor.com for supplemental learning on those days.
In Arlington County, the superintendent decided the school system’s winter weather procedures would include up to 13 snow days. Schools would fully close on those days, rather than log in for virtual classes.
