5 NoVA Pools Offering Kids Swim Lessons Before Summer

Build up your children’s confidence in the water before they jump in the pool this summer.

By Michele Kettner February 22, 2024 at 3:08 pm

You’re never too young to take swim lessons. And with summer right around the corner, now is the perfect time to  teach your children the importance of water safety. Here’s where you can sign them up for swim lessons before the community pool opens this summer.

Big Blue Swim School

Each of the five NoVA locations offers continuous weekly lessons for ages 3 months to 12 years old. During your children’s swim journey, they’ll learn everything from breath control to perfecting all four strokes, depending on their age group. Plus, parents can wait in the lobby, which has a huge viewing area and WiFi, as their little ones build confidence in the water. Multiple locations

British Swim School

This year-round program will get you ready for summer in no time. The school offers nine different swim programs based on age and skill, from Tadpoles for 3 to 36 months to Shark 2 for pre-swim team swimmers. The school also offers adult and young adult swim lessons. Multiple locations

Goldfish Swim School

Created for parents by parents, this program has your child’s best interest in mind. The state-of-the-art facility offers a welcoming environment that is full of kid-friendly colors and drawings. From lessons for 4-month-olds to practices for the recreational Goldfish Swim Force swim team (up to age 12), all ages will be challenged in the water. Multiple locations

Fairfax County Rec Centers

Visit your local Fairfax County rec center to take a dip in the pool. There are a variety of classes available at the nine recreation centers, including child and parent classes, stroke mechanics, and lessons for homeschool students. Multiple locations

The Machine Performance Center

This family-owned and family-operated center is focused on teaching swimming as a life skill. During group, semi-private, and private lessons, young swimmers will get comfortable in the water, learning about the importance of water safety, floating, and swimming fundamentals. 204D Mill St. NE, Vienna
