An Alexandria police officer was injured when a carjacking suspect crashed into a police SUV during a police chase early Thursday.
The officer was taken to the hospital, and the uninjured suspect is in police custody.
Alexandria police said the department was assisting Arlington County police “in pursuit of a vehicle that was carjacked.”
The crash occurred on North Quaker Lane near Preston Road, which is just off Interstate 395 in Fairlington. Alexandria police notified the public about the police chase and crash just after 4:30 a.m.
NBC Washington reports that officers tried to pull the Cadillac sedan over at King Street and Park Center Drive, which is roughly 1.5 miles from the crash site, but the suspect sped off, leading to the police pursuit that ended on Quaker Lane.
The suspect is a juvenile, according to Fox 5.
