8 Fairs and Festivals in Northern Virginia and DC to Visit in August

Explore new foods, rides, and music at these local events.

Looking for ways to fill the last few weeks of summer? Check out these eight Northern Virginia and DC fairs and festivals happening this August.   

One Loudoun Carnival 

August 6–17 

Experience all your favorite concessions, amusement rides, games, and prizes at the One Loudoun Carnival. Check out the 13 major fair rides including the Avalanche, Rock N’ Cars, and Zippea. One Loudoun Uptown: 44578 Atwater Dr., Ashburn, free admission, ride ticket prices vary 

Prince William County Fair 

August 8–16 

This nine-day event has countless family-friendly activities. From motocross races and demolition derbies to craft shows and live music, there’s always something for everybody to enjoy. The fair will also include its annual PWC Fair Pageant. Prince William County Fairgrounds: 10624 Dumfries Rd., Manassas, adult day pass $20, child day pass $10, senior day pass $10   

Taste Leesburg 

August 9 

Sample the best of Loudoun County at Taste Leesburg, an evening filled with local food, drinks, artisans, vendors, and live entertainment. This annual event transforms the downtown area into a lively street festival. Market and King streets, Leesburg, free 

Burnside Farms Summer of Sunflowers 

Through August 10 

Enjoy Burnside Farms’ colorful fields of over 30 varieties of cutting sunflowers. Each ticket includes three sunflowers, unlimited hayrides, and access to the farm’s new playground. Additional sunflowers are $1.50 per stem. Burnside Farms: 11008 Kettle Run Rd., Nokesville, tickets starting at $15, ages 5 and under free 

Arlington County Fair  

August 13–17 
 
Stop by and enjoy the Arlington County Fair for classic carnival rides, stage performances, obstacle courses, and games. Feel free to also enjoy the fair foods like arepas, barbecue, and fried Oreos. The fair will also include a shopping adventure stroll through local vendor aisles to engage small business owners, sample honeys, and help support local artists. Thomas Jefferson Community Center: 3501 Second St. S., Arlington, free    

Leesburg Festival of Crafts & Kites  

August 16 

Enjoy family-friendly outdoor fun with handmade goods from local artisans, food vendors, and colorful kites flying through the sky. Ida Lee Park: 60 Ida Lee Dr. NW, Leesburg, free 

Around the World Cultural Food Festival  

August 23 

Take your taste buds on a global journey with international cuisine from more than 40 different countries, along with cultural performances, artisan vendors, and family-friendly activities — all against the scenic backdrop of the Potomac River. Oronoco Bay Park: 100 Madison St., Alexandria, free 

DC JazzFest  

August 27–31 

Celebrate the soulful music of jazz at this five-day festival. The event features a lineup of legendary artists, emerging talent, and outdoor concerts along the waterfront. The Wharf: 1001 Seventh St. SW, Washington, DC, prices vary by event
