It may be too cold for water sports for most of us in December, but that won’t stop Santa from coming into Alexandria on his water skis on Christmas Eve.

Waterskiing Santa, a beloved Alexandria tradition now in its 34th year, returns to Old Town on Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24) at 1 p.m.

The event is free to watch, and the best viewing spots are at Waterfront Park (1 King Street and 1A Prince Street); Alexandria City Marina (0 Cameron Street); Founders Park (351 North Union Street); and Point Lumley Park (1 Duke Street).

Spectators can gather around the Potomac River waterfront for the show, featuring Santa and his festive crew skiing and doing tricks. After the show, Santa will greet families and children in the pavilion on the waterfront and behind the Torpedo Factory. Mrs. Claus and The Grinch will also make appearances.

Come early to see the pre-show, featuring jet skis, before Santa’s arrival. For more information, visit waterskiingsanta.com.
