Because of the government shutdown, Metro reports that it is losing an estimated $400,000 a day because of decreased ridership. The transit agency says that federal employees are usually about 40 percent of its rush-hour riders, but that daily ridership is down 16 percent due to the shutdown.

Variably priced parking spots could soon be coming to Arlington. Virginia is looking into having prices rise and fall in Crystal City and the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor depending on the amount of spaces available on a street, where the fewer the spots, the higher the price.
