Saturday, the Arlington County Board approved the $3.4 billion Capital Improvement Plan, construction spending that is expected to last 10 years. $1 million has been allotted to the Neighborhood Conservation program—bringing their total 10-year budget to $37 million—which aims to make sidewalk and landscaping improvements.

The Virginia Department of Transportation intends to alter access to the Virginia Route 193/Georgetown Pike on ramp to the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway after hearing McLean residents’ frustrations with rush hour traffic in the area. One potential solution would close the ramp from 1-7 p.m., and another would ban all left hand turns onto the ramp in the afternoon, which would require enforcement from police. A public meeting will be held at McLean High School on Aug. 2 at 7 p.m., and another meeting will be held before the Farifax County Board of Supervisors sometime this fall.
