Beer. Bacon. Music. What else is there to say?
I will happily eat breakfast any time of day, and although bacon is not my go-to breakfast meat, it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy eating it. So when I read about the Beer Bacon Music event in our April datebook, I was instantly intrigued. It may not be the healthiest decision I make this week, but spending some time outdoors, listening to music, playing games and of course drinking beer and eating bacon sounds like a great way to pass the time. –RK // One Loudoun: 20626 East Hampton Plaza, Ashburn
Trying to shed my murderous green thumb
Anyone who knows me knows that the one rule for keeping plants alive in my house is that I cannot touch them, maybe not even look at them. (I’ve managed to kill ferns and cacti.) But my goal this season is to shed my murderous thumbs and I’m getting some inspiration from the masters in Northern Virginia by hitting up some of the spaces on the Historic Garden Week tours. I’m most likely headed to the ones nearby in Fairfax, and I’m definitely taking the time to get a little midcentury inspo for indoors at the Hollin Hills House & Garden Tour. –LN // Hollin Hills House: 1600 Fort Hunt Court, Alexandria
Looking for some hidden treasures
As I’m preparing for a move in the next couple of weeks into a new apartment, I find myself in need of some things, whether that be kitchen supplies or some cool and unique knick knacks that might provide some unique character. That’s why I’m going to make my way down to the Shirlington House Yard Sale. Community residents will be selling their old goodies and maybe I can find a thing or two that will work in my space. I’ll just have to remember to get some cash beforehand as these transactions will all be done the old fashioned way. –MB // Shirlington House: 4201 31st St. South, Arlington
