Port City Brewing Company’s Sixth Anniversary Party

Craft beer has become so ubiquitous (especially in NoVA) that there’s now a movement, beer poptimism, for drinking—without irony—mass-produced swill. Anyway, we should still recognize one of the first breweries (and an unpretentious one at that) leading the way for local drinking: Port City Brewing Company’s sixth anniversary. The Mary Tyler Moore Show maraton
I (and some of my colleagues) plan to binge-watch The Mary Tyler Moore Show, a program that drifted on and off my family’s television growing up and made itself a fixture in my childhood, as I’m sure was the case for countless others. After the sad news of Moore’s passing last week, I’ll revisit episodes (conveniently on Hulu) as a much-needed reminder of the power of single women, their careers and—arguably just as vital—their humor. —BK

Time to say goodbye to football until the fall. I’ll be standing by for Lady Gaga’s inevitable off-script political moment during the halftime show, making a meal of chips and guacamole and hoping the Atlanta Falcons lose. –WD
