Another four years, another inauguration. After a—to put it mildly—surprising election, Donald Trump will take the oath of the country’s highest office on Friday, Jan. 20, and the whole weekend will be filled with inauguration-adjacent events—both official and unofficial. All said, the inauguration is expected to draw roughly 1 million people to D.C. and the surrounding region. Whether you want to party or protest, you can get involved in this inauguration at these Northern Virginia events (plus one Virginian-hosted bash in D.C.):

Inauguration Weekend at Mount Vernon
Jan. 19-22, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
As the country ushers in its 45th president, Mount Vernon will remember the very first president. The weekend’s events include a scavenger hunt and special exhibits, including a life-size statue of George Washington taking the oath of office and a collection of buttons from his inauguration. // George Washington’s Mount Vernon: 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon
