New State-of-the-Art Climbing Gym Slated for Fairfax

The Movement Fairfax gym will include over 37,000 square feet for climbing, yoga, and weight lifting.

By Michele Kettner June 21, 2023 at 11:05 am

Climbing and fitness aficionados will be happy to hear that Northern Virginia is adding another climbing gym. Movement, the country’s largest community of indoor climbing gyms, announced that a new facility will open in Fairfax near the end of 2024.

Plans call for the Fairfax gym to offer over 37,000 square feet of climbing, yoga, and fitness equipment. This includes a boutique-style yoga studio; weight areas, including Olympic lifting platforms; fully stocked fitness zones, locker rooms, and a gear shop.

In the new gym, 27,000 square feet will be dedicated just to climbing. The climbing section of the gym will be spread over two floors and include walls up to 50 feet high.

“We’re excited to bring Movement to Fairfax and offer a one-of-a-kind fitness experience to the NoVA community,” said Jeremy Levitt, Movement CEO in a recent news release. “We have an amazing team of climbing coaches, yoga teachers, fitness instructors, and front desk team members who are eager to share climbing, adventure, and a ton of fun with the Fairfax community.”

The Fairfax gym will be located at the Fair Oaks Mall and will be the company’s second gym in Virginia; with the other gym located at the Crystal City Shops in Arlington. Information on membership rates and daily passes are not yet available.
