Keep your 2021 wellness goals with this upcoming virtual health fair in McLean

Be Fit McLean is a free event focusing on health-related talks for body and mind.

By Kelly Magyarics January 12, 2021 at 1:47 pm

It’s almost mid-January: do you already feel guilty for shirking on your 2021 resolutions? It’s totally normal to make ambitious goals at the beginning of a new year, and just as normal to fall short of these lofty expectations. But there’s an easy way to get back on track, right from the comfort of your home gym or living room.

On Saturday,  Jan. 23, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the McLean Community Center (MCC) is hosting Be Fit McLean, a health and wellness fair that this year will be held virtually. During the event, health experts will facilitate sessions and offer health-related activities to the community, with the goal of providing insights to healthier living and overall well-being. The activities, targeted to participants of all ages and ability, will feature fitness, dance, nutrition, mental and physical health, as they are crucial parts of overall wellness as are sleep, balance, relaxation, vitamins, self-care and activity.

Kristen McGill, registered dietitian and certified nutritionist with Giant Food, along with the staff members of Virginia Hospital Center, will be giving lectures on topics including the science of happiness, stress reduction and how to improve your resilience. Admission to the fair is free, though online registration is required.

The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers continual programming for adults and children including classes, lectures, study tours, camps, art exhibits, theatre performances and specialty shows, and sponsors community events including McLean Day at Lewinsville Park and the 4th of July Fireworks. Find out more about the mission and offerings on this website.
