7 activities around the region to get in your weekend workout

Start off the new month on a health kick by attending one of these workouts.

Start off October by focusing on your health and fitness. From sunset yoga and kayaking to a grand opening, these are seven activities to help you stay active this weekend.

#hikeOctober

Thursday, 6-7:30 p.m.
After work, head over to Bear’s Den Park for a night hike. Hike to rock overlook to watch the sunset, then make your way back to the car, less than a one-mile trip. // Bears Den Trail Center: 18393 Blueridge Mountain Road, Bluemont; free

Sunset Yoga @ Harpers Ferry Brewing

Friday, 7-8 p.m.
Enjoy the beautiful October sunset on the banks of the Potomac River. Get in your yoga class for the weekend as you watch the sun dip below the horizon. The brewery will be open for an hour after the class ends. // Harpers Ferry Brewing: 37412 Adventure Center Lane, Purcellville; $12

13th Annual Walk and Wag to End Domestic Violence

Saturday, 9 a.m.
Let your pup get in on your weekend workout at Walk and Wag. Join your four-legged friend for a two-mile walk around the park to remember and support the victims and survivors of domestic violence. // Chet Hobert Park Playground: 255 Al Smith Circle, Berryville; $10-$25

Oktoberfest Fun Run

Saturday, 9:30 a.m.
Get in your last bit of Oktoberfest fun at this one-mile fun run. At the end of the family-friendly run, runners will receive a beer (age-dependent), a donut and pretzel. Donations will go towards those affected by the wildfires on the West Coast and the hurricanes in the South. // Holy Trinity Lutheran Church: 3022 Woodlawn Ave., Falls Church; donations accepted

Community Yoga at the REACH

Saturday, 10-11 a.m.
Spend your Saturday morning in DC for a special yoga session. The local yoga instructor-led class is open to all levels of experience. This class requires face coverings and will be limited to 50 participants. // The REACH at the Kennedy Center: 2700 F St. NW, Washington, DC; free

Sunset & Full Moon Kayak Paddle

Saturday, 6:30-9 p.m.
Head to the water one last time for a special kayak paddle. Get in a beautiful view of the sunset and full moon on the illuminated water as a way to ring in October. Previous kayak experience is suggested, but not required. // Pohick Bay Regional Park: ; $35

Grand Opening of Fairfax Pilates

Sunday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Get a first look of the new Fairfax Pilates this Sunday. Visit the location to try out some of their classes, enter raffles and meet the staff. // Fairfax Pilates: 10381 Main St., Fairfax; $10 for in-person classes, free for virtual classes
