8 in-person and virtual events for a healthy weekend

Whether you want to try goat yoga or learn how to paddleboard, these events will keep you active throughout the weekend.

With fall around the corner, enjoy your last few days of summer by getting outdoors. From yoga sessions for adults and kids to bird watching around the park, here are 8 in-person and virtual fitness and health events to attend this weekend.

Druminyasa in Paradise

Friday, 6-8 p.m.
Enjoy a night of yoga, wine and live music at Paradise Springs Winery. First, get in your vinyasas as the drums of Druminyasa fill the space. After your workout, enjoy a glass of wine as you take in the sunset at the vineyard. // Paradise Springs Winery: 13219 Yates Ford Road, Clifton; $40

Sunset Paddle

Friday, 5:30-8 p.m.
As the region slowly turns into autumn, enjoy a night on the water with a kayak tour. Get an up close look at the animals in their natural surroundings as you take in the beautiful sunset on the bay. Previous kayak experience is suggested, but not required. // Pohick Bay Regional Park: 6501 Pohick Bay Drive, Lorton; $35

2020 Fall Burke Lake 5k & 10k

Saturday, 7:30-10:30 a.m.
Lace up your running shoes and take your morning jog to the trails of Burke Lake. Enjoy the beautiful views of the lake as you run along the shore during the 5k or 10k race. Virtual options are also available. // Burke Lake Park: 7315 Ox Road, Springfield; $12-$45

Yoga on the Magnolia Terrace

Saturday, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Take advantage of the cooler weather by taking your yoga class outdoors. Enjoy the beautiful views that surround the Carlyle House’s Magnolia Terrace as you work off your stress. Participants are asked to bring water, a towel and yoga mat. // Carlyle House Historic Park: 121 N. Fairfax St., Alexandria; $5

Goat Yoga + Animal Therapy Live

Saturday, 4-5 p.m. & 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Join the goats of Walnut Creek Farm for some much needed yoga and meditation. After you decompress during the session, enjoy plenty of goat cuddles that are sure to brighten your day. Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat or towel. // Arlington (address will be sent 24 hours before event); $40

Wandering Warblers

Sunday, 7-9:30 a.m.
Rise and shine early this Sunday for bird watching around Seneca Regional Park. Catch the warblers as they prepare to migrate south to Central and South America. As you search for these birds, hear stories and facts about the small, colorful birds. // Seneca Regional Park: 101 Seneca Road, Great Falls; $8

SUP Lesson

Sunday, 11:30 a.m.
Get in a quick stand up paddleboarding lesson before the cold weather takes over the region. Whether you want to know the basics or advance the skills you already have, now is the perfect time. All equipment will be provided. // Lake Mooney: 500 Greenbank Road, Hartwood; $50

Free Virtual Bedtime Yoga for Kids

Sunday, 7:30-8 p.m.
Get your kids ready for the upcoming school week with a yoga session before bed. This virtual event includes everything from yoga poses to lullabies as a way to calm down and relax for a good night sleep. This class is recommended for ages four and older. // free
