Staying active in the winter can be tough as frigid temperatures take over and make us want to curl up underneath a blanket and not move until the groundhog tells us winter is over. Thankfully, these local sports leagues, groups and venues can help you fight that urge.

Skiing and Snowboarding

Massanutten Resort
Take a trip to this resort, a little more than two hours from NoVA, and have fun on the slopes skiing and snowboarding. There’s also ice-skating, an indoor waterpark and a family adventure park. // 1822 Resort Drive, Massanutten

Wintergreen Resort
Wintergreen Resort will require a three-hour journey, but it’s worth it for the winter hiking, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snow tubing and the kid’s fun park. // 39 Mountain Inn Loop, Roseland
