The Wine Balloons and Tunes Festival Returns to Tappahannock

Visitors can ride in hot air balloons or just watch the spectacle from the ground.

The Wine Balloons and Tunes Festival returns to Wind Vineyards on May 8 and 9, giving guests a chance to soar high in hot air balloons.

This festival will take place in Tappahannock — about a 2.5-hour drive from Dulles. Visitors can ride in chartered hot air balloons, tethered balloons, or just watch the spectacle as the balloons fly high in the air.

The Wine Balloons and Tunes Festival officially begins Friday evening. Start the day by ascending 25 to 30 feet in the air with a tethered balloon ride.

The event also includes live music, bands, kid’s activities, and a ride in the Grape Crusher monster truck. Foods and drinks will be available, as well as a vendor fair.

Chartered hot air balloons will take flight on Saturday shortly after sunrise. The festival begins at 3 p.m., with an evening GLOW exhibit for everyone’s enjoyment as the sun sets.

There will be additional chartered flights on Sunday morning, and festival ticketholders are encouraged to watch.

Tethered ballon rides are $25 per person and can be purchased on site. The chartered flights are $350 per person and must be reserved in advance.

Tickets to the Wine Balloons and Tunes Festival are available online and on site. On-site tickets are cash-only.
