Put Your Feet Up at These Tiny Homes in Maryland and Virginia

These eight properties are peaceful options perfect for a weekend getaway.

By Kate Oczypok June 26, 2024 at 10:09 am

Tiny homes are affordable, fun ways to get off the grid for a bit and relax while you’re at it. If you’re still trying to figure out the best summer vacation for your needs, try one of these eight properties, all within a drive time of four hours or less from Dulles.

Tiny House in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia

Drive time from Dulles: 45 minutes

Coming in at less than 90 square feet, this tiny house in the woods sits next to a tiny creek and near a pond. A small tent on the wood deck provides shelter from the elements. There are zero-gravity chairs close to the creek, allowing for some relaxing background noise. The home can be classified as glamping — as there is no bathroom in the tiny home. You’ll have access to a private porta-potty and within walking distance, there is a bathroom and shower facility in the barn.

Set on 25 acres of mostly wooded terrain, this secluded cottage faces the woods and offers a private drive down to the creek. Downstairs, you’ll find a cozy living room, kitchen, bathroom, and access to a downstairs porch area with a hammock. There’s also a sitting area with a Bluetooth record player and spacious Adirondack chairs great for stargazing.

Cozy Tiny House with Fire Pit and Barbecue in Mount Jackson, Virginia

Drive time from Dulles: 1.5 hours

This tiny home on a working 86-acre, Shenandoah Valley cattle farm is a great option for a romantic getaway or a fun long weekend with the whole family. There is a queen-size bed and queen-size futon as well as a small, foldable dining table and chairs. The half-bath includes a composting toilet, and other amenities include a smart TV or projector.

This tiny house is in a secluded location and features a modern-meets-rustic interior. The plush sofa keeps you comfortable during the day and converts into a bed at night, to make the most of the small space.
