2019 marks a big year for Walt Disney World Resort. The famous theme park is opening new attractions, restaurants, hotels and more across its properties in Orlando. With direct flights from Dulles International Airport, why not indulge your family with a trip this year?
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Join in on an epic battle between the First Order and the Resistance, and even have a face-off with Kylo Ren, at one of the most-anticipated attractions at Walt Disney World. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature music from the movie series, dining and interactive elements through the Play Disney Parks app. It opens in late fall, and the sister attraction at California’s Walt Disneyland opens this summer.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Opening in the fall, this will be the first-ever Mickey Mouse-themed ride. Based on Disney Channel’s new Mickey Mouse cartoons, the attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will include an adventure with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy.
NBA Experience at Disney Springs
Opening summer 2019, NBA Experience at Disney Springs is focused on immersing basketball fans into the NBA with interactive exhibitions and basketball games. The hands-on activities include training simulations, clock-racing competitions and fan-favorite NBA moments. Track and improve your jump shot, use oversized slingshots to launch basketballs at hoops and access a team locker room that showcases up-to-date statistics on top NBA and WNBA players.
Jaleo
Opening by celebrity chef Jose Andres’ ThinkFoodGroup, Jaleo is launching a location at Disney Springs in winter 2019. The Spanish cuisine will be served in a quick-service concept serving street-food sandwiches and salads, as well as Spanish tapas, paella and sangria.
City Works Eatery & Pour House
Opening during the summer at Disney Springs, City Works Eatery & Pour House will offer a huge draft selection of local, regional and global craft beers. The restaurant will also feature three full-service bars and open-air dining on the patio.
Disney Skyliner
Love the Monorail? Then check out the Disney Skyliner, a gondola system opening in the fall, which will connect four Walt Disney World resort hotels to the theme parks. Expect stunning overhead views and character-themed gondolas as you easily transport from one location to the next.
Disney’s Riviera Resort
Inspired by European travels Walt Disney took along the Mediterranean coastline, Disney’s Riviera Resort is projected to open in fall 2019, and is currently taking reservations for stays beginning in December. It is the 15th Disney Vacation Club property, offering 300 family-friendly vacation homes.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
In summer 2019, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will reopen with hundreds of new guestrooms and amenities, including a 15-story tower with 545 guest rooms, a rooftop restaurant, two presidential suites and 50 suites.
