Is socializing a competitive sport for you? If not, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to turn your friendly gatherings into bouts of one-upmanship when Puttshack opens in Reston Station in the summer of 2025.
The press release calls the first DC area outpost of the national entertainment chain a “tech-infused mini-golf experience with global food and drink.” This latest announcement brings Comstock into the second phase of its 80-acre development plan for the mixed-use Reston Station project.
Puttshack’s Reston location is proposed to be about 29,000 square feet of dining and cocktails, with 36 holes you will be able to play with a ball that keeps track of the score for you.
The mini golf itself is hardly a traditional-style player game. The holes feature pinball-themed features, with what looks to be little paddles around each hole that thwart you as you tee off. There’s a definite arcade vibe to the course, with bright lights and neon colors.
If you become weary of engaging in an endless battle between your putter and the pinball flappers, you can munch on some Puttshack Poutine or Wood-Fired Thai Octopus — or a burger called “The O.G.”
Right now, Puttshack has four locations in the U.S., in Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, and Miami. Additional locations in Dallas, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scottsdale, St. Louis, and a second venue in Atlanta are all anticipated to open throughout 2023.
The venture is said to have a “multigenerational appeal” that’s “already proven to attract a younger target demographic.” Roughly translated, that’s Gen Z kids who care where their hair is parted and millennials who have children, who all work in tech. This is the Reston of the future and Puttshack is bringing it to you.
Puttshack is proposed to sit at the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station. Construction will begin in 2024 and the establishment will open in 2025.
