Afternoon Alfresco
I’m absolutely loving this summer sun! There’s nothing like coming out of a freezing cold house or office and warming up with some seasonal rays. This weekend I plan on getting in some extra sun time by making a stop at Barca Pier & Wine Bar for great Mediterranean dishes and stunning views. —Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor
School’s (Almost) Out!
I may be as excited as the kids that school for our district ends on Friday. I’m looking forward to a little less rushing around and not having to scramble to complete school projects. We plan to take advantage of having more time with a trip to pick lavender, and to take a deep breath with some local hikes. —Amy Ayres, editor
Beer Me, George
There’s probably nothing more American than throwing a beer festival on the front lawn of the first president, so if you’re feeling patriotic, you might want to head to one of our favorite events this month, Mount Vernon Summerfest. It’s 6 to 9 p.m. on June 10 and 11, and you’ll get to taste beers inspired by history (George Washington, it turns out, loved porter). —James Finley, senior editor
