Strawberry Fields Forever
When I arrived in NoVA last May, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was not only already strawberry season, but that our region has some of the tastiest specimens I’ve ever tried. Last fall, I went apple picking at Great Country Farms. Now I’m combining the two with a visit to the Bluemont farm’s strawberry fields to pick some Chandlers of my own. –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic
Trip to Jurassic Park
Growing up, Jurassic Park was one of my favorite movies. While some people would want to transport into their favorite flick, I always knew I would never want to visit this theme park. Now, thanks to advances in technology, I can visit a dino-inspired park without the danger of bringing real dinosaurs back to life. Through the end of the month, The Jurassic Encounter drive-thru experience will be giving families an up-close experience of 75 life-size dinos from their car: the perfect alternative to being chased by a T-rex. –Michele Kettner, associated digital and research editor
Beach Bound
I’m in travel mode this week, planning a trip to Virginia Beach. Some family will be joining me here soon for a visit, and I’d love to take them there–I know my little nephew will love the aquarium, and I want to take surfing lessons.” –Kelly Kendall, editor
