8 Festivals Coming to Northern Virginia in May

Fun awaits at these NoVA-area festivals.

These May festivals in Northern Virginia offer food, wine, music, rides, and fun for everyone.

Art in the Burg

May 9

Celebrate the arts in Middleburg buy browsing local vendor offerings like candles, jewelry, gourmet chocolates, and more. Local businesses and schools will be participating with Art CAN Help by creating sculptures from unopened cans of food. Guests can vote for their favorite sculpture by dropping a dollar in their can. Seven Loaves Foodbank will be receiving proceeds from the contest. South Madison St. and Federal St., Middleburg, free

Spring Wine Festival at Mount Vernon

May 15–17

The popular Spring Wine Festival at Mount Vernon lets guests enjoy an evening picnic while sampling wines from local wineries. There will be live music by The Hula Monsters and attendees can take home a commemorative glass, all the while celebrating America 250. 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy., Mount Vernon, $40.80 to $66

38th Annual Virginia Wine & Craft Festival

May 16

Downtown Front Royal is home to an annual wine and craft festival complete with local wineries, cideries, and meaderies, along with food vendors and live entertainment. Local artisans will be displaying items like jewelry, pottery, and home décor. The festival is a great family-friendly option, as Cloud Street will be home to kids’ activities. 414 E. Main St., Front Royal, $30

Lincoln Strawberry Festival

May 16–18

Wegmeyer Farms will host a weekend of strawberry-themed fun. Celebrate the quintessential summer fruit with events like a strawberry toddler fashion show, strawberry pie eating contests, musical performances, and a strawberry pancake breakfast. On Friday evening before the weekend festivities, there will be a gala dinner. 18451 Taylor Rd., Hamilton, $16.18 for the festival, $205.73 to $236.47 for the gala

Loudoun Farm Tour

May 16–17

Loudoun County’s agricultural roots are on display at the annual farm tour. You can see how mushrooms are grown and how dairy farms operate. It’s a self-guided tour, so check out the list of participating venues and head out for a day of farm fun. Locations vary in Loudoun County, free

Old Town Festival of Speed & Style

May 17

Car enthusiasts can gather in Old Town Alexandria to admire more than 100 rare exotic cars and motorcycles from the 1950s to 1980s. The vintage vehicles aren’t the only attraction — there will also be a fashion show with models styled to complement the cars. 200–500 King St., Alexandria, free 

ViVa! Vienna!

May 23–25

Vienna will be flooded with people for this annual Memorial Day Weekend festival, a tradition of more than 40 years. Head to the BrewFest Beer Garden on Mill Street for a drink, then peruse the vendors and food offerings. Proceeds from the event benefit more than 70 Vienna businesses. Church Street, Vienna, free

Bull Run Wine Festival

May 30–31

Level up your day at the winery with this spring festival. Bull Run Winery will host two days of entertainment, with live music and more than a dozen area wineries and breweries in attendance.
