Where to Catch a Discounted Movie at a Local Theater This Summer

Spend your summer at local cinemas and take advantage of these discounted screenings.

By Kate Oczypok June 2, 2025 at 10:36 am

There’s no better way to spend a summer afternoon or evening than at the movies. And with deals and discounts like weekday specials, family deals, and lower prices for seniors or students at local movie theaters, cinephiles have the chance to save some money. Best of all, most of these deals run throughout the year, not just for the summer.

Alamo Drafthouse

Alamo Drafthouse hosts “BFD Tuesdays,” where guests can get a discounted ($10.99) ticket on Tuesdays for a regular-priced 2D ticket. Some exclusions do apply for circumstances like special events, private parties, or blackout periods. Multiple area locations

AMC Theatres

Planning dinner and a movie? You could save money if you put the movie first. At AMC Theatres, every day before 4 p.m., movie tickets are 20 percent off evening ticket prices. There are also student, military, and senior discounts, as well as Tuesday discounts for AMC Stubs members. Multiple area locations

Cinemark Theatres

Cinemark Theatres offer multiple discounts including an early bird discount for the first matinee showtime of the day, discount Tuesdays, seniors discount days, student discounts, and a military discount too. Movie-goers can join the Cinemark Movie Club to get special discounts and rewards like 20 percent off concessions, waived online fees, and one 2D ticket per month. 6201 Multiplex Dr., Centreville; 11900 Palace Way, Fairfax

CMX Cinemas and Cinebistros

If you join CMX’s free rewards program, you can earn points on movie tickets and food and drink purchases. For every 500 points you earn, you can redeem them for either one free ticket or a $5 food or drink voucher. The rewards system has gold, platinum, and diamond levels which offer more perks the higher the level. 1651 International Dr. U1700 Level 3M, McLean; 1600 Village Market Blvd., Ste. 116, Leesburg

Paragon Theaters

A new movie theater opens June 13 in Falls Church, and it will offer several deals and discounts. From its opening date through June 30, all tickets will be $8. Even after that opening deal is over, the theater will offer $9 tickets for military personnel, government employees, and their family members, and $5 tickets on Tuesdays. There will be seven theaters with reclinable seats, and it has a full menu of food and drink options, including craft cocktails. 112 Founders Ave., Falls Church

Regal Cinemas

Regal Cinemas offer multiple discounts, including Monday Mystery Movies, which are early screenings of new movies — the catch is guests are not allowed to know what the movie is ahead of time. Movies are just $5 for these showings, and you must be in the theater at 7 p.m.

Families will also appreciate the movie chain’s Summer Movie Express, for $1 tickets for previously released family movies that return to the big screen on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The series begins June 10 and runs through August 6. There will also be food specials, like a $5 snack pack which includes a junior-sized drink, snack-sized popcorn, and fruit snacks. Multiple area locations

University Mall Theatres

This local theater offers half-price Tuesdays, where all seats are $5. If you’re hungry, the entire concession menu is under $10, making for an affordable day or evening out for the whole family. 10659-A Braddock Rd., Fairfax
