NoVA Gets a New Escape Room and an Immersive Gaming Experience

Looking for a fun indoor activity? Check out Break from Reality in Fairfax and Time Mission in Manassas.

There are two new venues for indoor fun in Northern Virginia. New escape room Break from Reality is now open in Fairfax, and Time Mission, a “social gaming adventure,” is open in the Manassas Mall.

Break from Reality

Break from Reality, which celebrated its grand opening on January 18, is located at 11230 Waples Mill Rd., Fairfax. This new escape room facility currently has two creative rooms in operation, with even more coming soon.

Currently, room choices include “Botched,” about a sinister plastic surgeon’s office and “Madame Belladonna,” about a psychic who wants to steal your soul.

Three new rooms are set to open soon, including Viking-themed “Chasing Valhalla;” “The Order,” about a mysterious secret society; and “Doomsday,” set in an apocalypse bunker.

Rooms take one hour to complete and can accommodate groups of two to eight players.

Time Mission

This new gaming experience is now open in the Manassas Mall. The facility features at least 25 themed “portals,” where you and your teammates take on themed challenges lasting one to five minutes. Challenges can include cracking codes, dodging lasers, solving riddles, and more.

As you tackle different portals, you’ll rack up “Momentium points.” Teams can be anywhere from two to five people — larger groups are welcome, they’ll just be split up into multiple teams.

You can book sessions for 60, 90, or 120 minutes at a time. It’s open to players over age 6.

This is the third Time Mission location; others are in West Nyack, New York, and Lincoln, Rhode Island.
