Let Out Some of Your Post-Election Stress with These 5 NoVA Activities

Long week? Decompress with rage rooms, meditation, a good workout, and more.

By Maggie Roth November 8, 2024 at 1:14 pm

No matter how you feel about the results of the election, it’s been a long week. If the events of the past few days have left you feeling tense, jittery, or just plain tired, you may be looking for a way to burn some of those feelings off. In Northern Virginia, here are some of your options for some weekend stress relief.

Lose It Rage Room

There aren’t many places where you’re actually allowed — nay, encouraged — to smash stuff with a baseball bat and scream. If that’s what you’re looking to do without judgement, head to a rage room.  Lose It Rage Room in Woodbridge provides a specific space for controlled destruction, with the goal of providing a space for people to express their emotions any way they see fit. 3085 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, starting at $45

Splatter Paint Room

This colorful space in the Manassas Mall is like a rage room’s creative cousin. Instead of destroying things, you can throw paint at a canvas with reckless abandon, creating a chaotic work of art without inhibitions. Will it be pretty? Maybe not. Will you feel better after doing it? Almost definitely. 8270 Sudley Rd., Manassas, $40

King Spa

You can step away from your worries (and your phone) at this Korean day spa in Chantilly. There are options for 10 different sauna rooms, plus several baths and pools and spa treatments like facials, massages, and scrubs. You can get your mind off the news cycle and just relax in peace and quiet for the day. 25330 Eastern Marketplace Plz., Chantilly, daily admission starting at $60

Kickboxing Classes

There are few things better for stress relief than a hard workout. Try your hand at kickboxing at area gyms like Urban Boxing Arlington, Kickhouse Chantilly, and TITLE Boxing Club Ashburn. You’ll find high-energy classes to help you work up a sweat and get your mind off your worries.

Hot Yoga

If you want a more meditative kind of workout to decompress, hot yoga is a great option. This practice can help you stretch your muscles, feel more connected with your body, and the warm temperature is a good way to burn calories, too. Check out the class offerings at Siri Om in Fairfax, Beyond Hot Yoga, and more.
