Weekend Fun: Jane Austen Ball, Tinashe, and Pumpkin Chunkin’

From fall festivals to comedy shows, this weekend offers an array of delightful events.

Get ready for a packed weekend. From a ball that promises to transport you to Regency romance to laughter-filled comedy that challenges the norms, there’s no shortage of amusement. 

Jane Austen Ball 

November 1, 6:30–10 p.m. 

Take in classical music, dessert, and elegant surroundings while wearing Regency attire. Explore the historic mansion at this popular annual ball hosted by the International Club of DC. A limited number of waltz lessons are available before the ball. Dumbarton House: 2715 Q St. NW, Washington, DC, $55, $70 with waltz lessons  

Rakish 

November 1, 7:30 p.m. 

Rakish, a duo formed by violinist Maura Shawn Scanlin (a two-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion) and guitarist Conor Hearn, blends traditional Irish and Scottish music with a twist. Alexandria History Museum at the Lyceum: 201 S. Washington St., Alexandria, $10–$25 

Tinashe – Match My Freak World Tour 

November 1, 8 p.m. 

Tinashe, a multi-talented R&B artist, is known for her innovative fusion of R&B, pop, and hip-hop. She recently released her album Quantum Baby with popular singles like “Getting No Sleep” and “Nasty.” The Anthem: 901 Wharf St. SW, Washington, DC, $39.50–$99.50 

Third Reprise 

November 1, 8 p.m. 

Join New York-based group Third Reprise for an evening of reimagined Broadway classics. Known for their innovative takes on classic show tunes, Third Reprise will perform their versions of hits like “Defying Gravity” and “Part of Your World.” The Barns at Wolf Trap: 1635 Trap Rd., Vienna, starting at $28 

Spotsy Fall Classic Car Show 

November 2, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. 

Experience classic cars and motorcycles, a market with over 20 vendors, food trucks, family activities, and tarot card readings at this event, where you can vote for your favorite vintage vehicles. 7100 Steckler Way, Fredericksburg, free admission 

Alexandria Fall-O-Ween 

November 2, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. 

This seasonal celebration features local artisans, Halloween and Day of the Dead activities, a costume parade for kids and pets, food vendors, and a beer garden. John Carlyle Square: 300 John Carlyle St., Alexandria, free admission 

Pumpkin Chunkin’ 

November 2–3, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. 

Bring your leftover jack-o-lantern and let it fly at smashing stations including a 40-foot Pumpkin Drop Zone. Have fun at activities like marshmallow roasting, live music, and the Dino Fest with life-sized dinosaurs. Smashed pumpkins are composted or go to the pigs and cows. Ali Siddiq: I Got A Story To Tell 

November 2–3, 7 and 9:30 p.m. 

Known for his storytelling style developed during his time incarcerated, comedian Ali Siddiq has gained widespread recognition through his comedy specials. Capital One Hall: 7750 Capital One Tower Rd., Tysons, starting at $30 

Hairy Situation: A New Comedy Show by ALOK 

November 2, 8 p.m. 

Comedian, actor, and poet ALOK, who can be seen on “Sex Lives of College Girls” and is known for their LGBTQ rights advocacy, will share humorous, thought-provoking tales in this new standup show. Lincoln Theatre: 1215 U St. NW, Washington, DC, $30–$65 

Alexandria Fall Fest 

November 3, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. 

Have a fun-filled day with activities like bounce houses, face painting, and pony rides, plus live entertainment. Don’t miss the beer and wine garden featuring Port City Brewing and Lost Boy Cider, along with food from Rocklands Barbeque, Surfside, and DC Slices. River Farm: 7931 E. Boulevard Dr., Alexandria, $10–$25 admission, parking $25
