A new park in Loudoun County is now open to the public, offering visitors more than 600 acres of land to explore. Reservoir Park, at the Beaverdam Reservoir in Ashburn, officially opened Monday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Reservoir Park is part of a collaboration between NOVA Parks, which operates 37 parks in the area, and Loudoun Water, which owns and maintains the 300-acre reservoir as a source of drinking water.

“Our county’s vision statement is to strive to be a prosperous, inclusive, equitable and sustainable community where residents feel free to live, work, learn and play,” said Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall, who attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. “The opening of Reservoir Park is a sign of that vision continuing to come to life. Thanks to years of hard work, starting on October 21, the public will have access to this magnificent park — right here in Loudoun County.”

The new space includes amenities such as picnic pavilions, hiking trails, a boat launch, and interpretive exhibits. Visitors will be permitted to fish in the park.
On the property is a welcome center, a crew facility, boat rentals, a waterfront boardwalk, a bridge, and restrooms.
Boat rentals will be available on October 26 and 27. Visitors can bring their own boats through the end of the season.

“Great things come from partnerships. Reservoir Park at Beaverdam Reservoir is the culmination of a multi-year partnership between Loudoun Water and NOVA Parks,” said Sean Kumar, NOVA Parks’ chairman. “The end result is one of the best parks in the region that will serve people for generations to come. As a park built around a large lake, Reservoir Park embodies water conservation, nature, and recreation. This is the result of two agencies collaborating on a shared vision.”
