Weekend Fun: George Lopez, Streetfest, and White House Garden Tours

The weekend features events for people of all ages. Maybe treat your mom to some fun?

Are you looking for weekend fun to supplement what you have planned for Mother’s Day’s festivals include dinosaurs, street events, and mimosas. Plus, the weekend of May 10–12, tour the garden or see The Wizard of Oz. 

Madison Beer – Spinnin Tour 

May 10, 6:30 p.m. 

This New York singer-songwriter embarks on her third concert tour for her sophomore album, Silence Between Songs. George Lopez: ALLLRIIIIGHHTTT! Comedy Tour 

May 10–11, 7 p.m. 

Watch this groundbreaking comedian and actor share zingers from his multifaceted career in television, film, and stand-up comedy. Known for tackling social issues, Lopez’s monologues are resonating, thought-provoking, and laugh-out-loud funny. This may be your last chance to see him do stand-up. Jurassic Quest 

May 10–12 

Unleash your inner paleontologist with attractions like dinosaur rides, Jurassic jeeps, and themed inflatables. Children can dig for fossils, train raptors, and interact with baby dinosaurs among towering figures of the Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex. Streetfest 

May 11, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. 

Reston Town Center transforms into a hub of family fun, featuring live music, fun games, and free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Take a swing at axe throwing, solve puzzles in the escape room, or putt around with mini golf. Reston Town Center: Market and Library streets, Reston, free 

26th Annual Eagle Festival

May 11, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. 

Join a day dedicated to the appreciation of wildlife and natural habitats. Get up close with hawks, owls, and bald eagles, participate in engaging animal shows, and take part in activities that underscore the importance of conservation. Mason Neck State Park: 7301 High Point Rd., Lorton, free

The White House Gardens Tour

May 11–12, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m. 

Bring mom on a White House Gardens tour that includes the historic Rose Garden and the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden. Tickets are available starting at 8:30 a.m. at the White House Visitor Center, provided on a first-come, first-served basis. 15th Street, NW between E Street, NW, and Constitution Avenue, NW, free but ticket required 

Annual Loco Food Truck Festival 

May 11, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. 

Explore an array of food trucks featuring area food vendors at this family-friendly festival. Alongside culinary delights, enjoy live music, a cornhole tournament, and axe-throwing. Participating trucks include Virginia Grill, Skrimp Shack, and Black Hogg BBQ.Segra Field Parking Lots: 42095 Loudoun United Dr., Leesburg, free, $20 for cornhole tournament 

Mother’s Day: Wine, Cider, and Mimosa Festival 

May 11, 1–6 p.m. 

Raise a glass to mom at a tasting event featuring fine wines and mimosas. Sample over 40 beers and ciders and join in on lively games. Shipgarten: 7581 Colshire Dr., McLean, free 

Beer, Bourbon & Barbecue Festival 

May 11, 2–6 p.m. 

Treat yourself to unlimited samplings of over 60 beers and 40 bourbons, plus a full menu of barbecue classics like ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. Receive a souvenir tasting glass, included in your ticket, while live rock and blues bands play. Prince William County Fairgrounds: 10624 Dumfries Rd., Manassas, $45 

The Wizard of Oz 

May 11–12 

Step back onto the yellow brick road with this two-and-a-half-hour stage adaptation of the beloved fantasy tale. Follow Dorothy’s journey from Kansas to Oz and relive classic songs from the 1939 film, including “Over the Rainbow” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.” Hylton Performing Arts Center: 10960 George Mason Cir., Manassas, $30, $25 for seniors and students
