Weekend Fun: ‘Frozen’ Musical, Art Festivals, and Free Chocolate 

Whether you’re craving dance, music, or chocolate, there’s something for you in NoVA this weekend.

As April winds down, Northern Virginia heats up with a lineup of events that include high-energy dance festivals, getting immersed in colors, and chocolate tastings. Here’s what’s in store for the weekend of April 26–28. 

Disney’s Frozen 

April 26–28 

This enchanting two-and-a-half-hour musical adaptation of Frozen brings to life fan-favorite characters Elsa and Anna, plus new songs exclusive to the show. Enjoy a heartwarming exploration of true love and sisterhood perfect for all ages. Rock Ridge High School: 43460 Loudoun Reserve Dr., Ashburn, $15–$20 

Brilliant Exiles: American Women in Paris, 1900–1939 

April 26–February 23, 2025  

Discover how American women shaped and were shaped by Parisian culture in the early 20th century. With portraits of cultural pioneers like Josephine Baker and Gertrude Stein, the exhibition highlights the groundbreaking contributions of 60 women to art, literature, and history. 11th Annual Kite Festival 

April 27, 10 a.m.–noon 

Join a community of kite flyers for a breezy morning at Signal Hill Park. This event is free, so bring your best kites or purchase a new diamond kite for just $5. 9300 Signal View Dr., Manassas, free 

Old Town Manassas Art Show & Spring Craft Fair 

April 27, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. 

Historic Downtown Manassas comes alive with artisans and small businesses offering everything from arts and crafts to exquisite jewelry to food. It’s an ideal opportunity to pick up a Mother’s Day gift. Manassas Museum Lawn: 9101 Prince William St., Manassas, free 

10th Annual Arlington Festival of the Arts 

April 27–28, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. 

Explore a curated collection of handmade sculptures, pottery, paintings, and more at this inviting outdoor art festival. Whether you are a seasoned collector or a casual admirer, you’re guaranteed to find an artwork you’ll like. 1051 N. Highland St., Arlington, free 

7th Annual DC Chocolate Festival 

April 27, 10:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. 

Dive into a chocolate lover’s paradise at La Maison Française at the Embassy of France. Over 30 vendors will be on hand. Meet expert chocolatiers, learn about the origins of cacao, and indulge in rich flavors from the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. 4101 Reservoir Rd. NW, Washington, DC, $25, free for ages 12 and younger 

‘90s Drag Brunch 

April 27, 11 a.m.–2 p.m. 

Head to King & Rye for some lively entertainment, accompanied by a Southern-style brunch. The restaurant will partner with SAD Brunch for a ‘90s-themed show. Cake Pop is the host, and the lineup includes performances from Druex Sidora, Tiara Missou, Venetian. King & Rye: 480 King St., Alexandria, $30 ticket with $25 food and beverage minimum 

Taste of Vienna 

April 27, 11 a.m.–8 p.m. 

Try local food at this event that benefits the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. This culinary extravaganza features restaurants and food trucks, live performances, and activities for kids. It’s a delicious way to support community heroes. Vienna Volunteer Fire Department: 400 Center St. S., Vienna, free, but requires tickets to taste the foods 

Festival of Colors 

April 27, noon–7 p.m. 

Experience the joy of throwing colors at family, friends, and strangers at Bull Run Regional Park. Immerse yourself in this color fest while enjoying music from celebrity DJs, dance showcases, and diverse cuisines. Tickets must be bought online and required for everyone over 3. 7700 Bull Run Dr., Centreville, $13–$24 

Purcellville Music and Arts Festival  

April 27, noon–7 p.m. 

Celebrate community and creativity at this family-friendly event featuring live music, art, and activities, such as T-shirt painting, glitter tattoos, and carnival games. Three stages will feature performances that include Justin Trawick and Rick Reaves Jazz, while the art hall will have dancers and more in the heart of Purcellville. Dillon’s Woods: 250 S. Nursery Ave., Purcellville, free 

Project Glow 

April 27–28 

This festival is a tribute to 20 years of dance music, bringing together over 50 artists including Elderbrook, Illenium, and Zedd across three stages. Partygoers can also groove to hip-hop beats from DJs like Acraze and Wax Motif or rave to the electronic sounds of Knock2. This is an event for people 18 and older. Festival Grounds at RFK Campus: 2500 Independence Ave. SE, Washington, DC, starting at $133.84 

PNC Parkway Classic 

April 28, 8 a.m. 

Mark the 40th anniversary of this race with a choice between a 10-miler or a 5K. Relish the beauty of spring blooms along the Potomac and unwind afterward at Alexandria’s Oronoco Bay Park with live tunes and local brews from Port City Brewery. The 5K starts at the park on Madison Street. There are shuttle buses to the 10-miler that starts at Mount Vernon. Oronoco Bay Park: 100 Madison St., Alexandria, $55–$100
