Weekend Fun: Cherry Blossom Parade, Comic Con, and Dog Festival 

Whether you’re a lover of flowers, comic books, or dogs, there’s something on tap for everyone this weekend.

Spring’s warmth ushers in a packed weekend of festivities, from the colorful National Cherry Blossom Parade and tulip exhibits to an interactive comedy show and welcoming family fair. Make sure you’re a part of these fun events from April 12 to 14. 

Iniko: The Awakening Tour 

April 12, 6 p.m. 

Catch the Brooklyn native’s soulful concert in DC, featuring her distinctive vocals with TikTok hits such as “The King’s Affirmation” and the chart-topping “Jericho.” 9:30 Club: 815 V St. NW, Washington, DC, $30 

The Ugly Duckling 

April 12, 6–8 p.m. 

This innovative show features puppets illuminated by LED wire. As a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent, Lightwire Theater’s rendition of the classic Aesop fable will surely be a visual delight for all ages. The Alden Theatre: 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean, $15, $12 for seniors 

Spring Garden Market 

April 12–13 

Visit River Farm for a vibrant selection of specialty plants and herbs. Shop for garden-themed art, books, and tools. Roam across 25 acres of diverse gardens and grab a bite to eat by the Potomac River. River Farm: 7931 E. Boulevard Dr., Alexandria, $5 for those walking or cycling, $20 for those with cars 

Spring Family Fair 

April 13, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. 

Gather the family for an event packed with magic shows, live music, crafts, and face painting. Parents can also connect with child care providers, health specialists, and family fun services. Sterling Community Center: 120 Enterprise St., Sterling, free 

National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade 

April 13, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. 

The National Cherry Blossom Festival parade will have grand helium balloons, dance performances, and marching bands, with music ranging from American Idol finalist Colin Stough to The Sugarhill Gang. Constitution Avenue NW, between Seventh and 17th streets, Washington, DC, starting at $25 

DC Beer Fest 

April 13, noon–8 p.m. 

Dive into DC’s biggest beer fest at Nats Park with more than 80 breweries, food trucks, live bands, and dueling pianos. Admission covers unlimited beer tastings, with food sold separately. Open to guests ages 21 and over. Nationals Park: 1500 S. Capitol St. SE, Washington, DC, starting at $50 

Big Lick Comic Con 

April 13–14 

For those into comics, toy collecting, and gaming, this is your go-to event. The event will have more than 250 exhibitors, renowned comic artists, and iconic voice actors like Wolverine’s Cal Dodd and the 1987 cast of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. Dulles Expo Center: 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center Dr., Chantilly, $25 per day, $40 for weekend 

Tulip Days 

April 13–14 

Welcome spring at Hope Flower Farm, where stunning blooms set the stage for a beautiful day. With live music, lawn games, scavenger hunts, hard cider, and spring-inspired wines, this daytime weekend celebration is perfect for families and friends. Hope Flower Farm: 40905 Stumptown Rd., Waterford, free 

2nd Annual Del Ray Dog Fest 

April 14, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. 

Gather for a fun-filled dog festival complete with a menu for pups, live tunes, an off-leash puppy playground, and a rescue area. Watch proudly as your dog participates in the fashion show or distracted dog race. George Washington Middle School Parking Lot: 1005 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria, $20 per person with up to two dogs 

Whose Live Anyway? 

April 14, 8–9:30 p.m. 

Join the cast of the Emmy-nominated Whose Line Is It Anyway? for an evening of improv comedy. The 90-minute show relies on audience involvement, so bring your creative juices and you could find yourself on stage. Warner Theatre: 513 13th St. NW, Washington, DC, starting at $53
