First-Ever Hot Wheels Experience to Debut in Tysons This Winter

Based on the popular toy, this experience combines digital and hands-on play to bring Hot Wheels City to life.

Entering the world of Hot Wheels has never been so easy. This December, Tysons Corner Center will host the first-ever interactive Hot Wheels Champion Experience.

On December 8, the 16,000-square-foot limited experience opens its doors to car lovers of all ages. Based on 55 years of Hot Wheels legacy, the interactive and immersive experience will combine digital and physical play options in partnership with SEE Touring Exhibitions Inc.

“Together, we aim to bring Hot Wheels to life in an entirely new way,” said Julie Freeland, senior director of Global Location Based Entertainment at Mattel. “By combining technology, immersive design, and the unrivaled thrill of Hot Wheels, this attraction will ignite the imagination of fans and families alike.”

There will be seven distinct experiences for both kids and adults. Guests can become Hot Wheels Designers, Track Builders, Ultimate Heroes, Speed Machines, and Smash Champs.

The designer station allows you to create your own digital Hot Wheels car to use in all of the other interactive aspects. In the builders section, you put on your hard hat to create a custom track using Augmented Reality.

Those that want to become Ultimate Heroes will need to defeat the monsters taking over Hot Wheels City. The Speed Machines that visit will race against their Hot Wheels cars against competitors using physical body movements.

For the little ones who love monster trucks, head over to Smash Champs to complete stunts as you dodge any hazards that come your way. The Virtual Drivers section uses Augmented Reality to show you what it’s like to drive a Hot Wheels car.

There will also be an Epic Winners podium where you can snap pictures of your Hot Wheels Champion. And at Hot Wheels Central, collect all of your digital badges and memorabilia to take home.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon on October 5. Those who want first pick of dates and times can sign up for the priority list to get first access and pre-sale pricing on October 4.
