These NoVA Farms Have Stunning Pick-Your-Own Sunflower Fields

If your table-setting (or your Instagram) is feeling a little bare, don’t worry. Sunflower season has officially bloomed across NoVA.

Updated July 11, 2022. In case your Instagram feed hasn’t been full of sunflower pictures, here is your reminder that sunflower season has officially bloomed around the DMV. If you are looking to make your own bouquet, snap some pics, or gift some stems to a friend, these are the local farms to visit to pick your own sunflowers.

Braehead Farm

If you are in the Fredericksburg area, make your way over to this family owned and operated farm for all of your flower needs. Operating since 1937, Braehead offers free admission to the flower fields, allowing visitors to pay for what they pick. The farm also has zinnias, snapdragons, black-eyed susans, and more available for picking. 1130 Tyler St., Fredericksburg

Burnside Farms

Mark The Summer of Sunflowers at Burnside on your calendar. With over 30 different varieties and 15 acres of sunflowers, there are endless blooms for all your photos and dining table bouquets. Tickets for the seasonal event go on sale in late-July and include three cut sunflowers for adults and one sunflower per child. 11008 Kettle Run Rd., Nokesville

Great Country Farms

It’s sunflower season at this Bluemont farm. Make plans to attend the Sunflower Fest, where for only $1 a stem, you can grab your own beautiful blooms to enjoy at home. Just make sure to bring along a pair of clippers or scissors for a quick cut. 34345 Snickersville Tpk., Bluemont

Hollin Farms

Known for pick-your-own fruits and vegetables, Hollin Farms is also home to bountiful fields of flowers. Clear your schedule for a day of flower picking and frolicking through the berries for a true summer day. 1524 Snowden Rd., Delaplane

Messick’s Farm Market

The sunflower patch at Messick’s Farm is open for business. Whether you are looking for huge sunflowers or colorful daisies, this is the place to fill all of your flower needs. 6025 Catlett Rd., Bealeton

The Homestead Farm

Pack up the family for a trip to Winchester. While the annual Sunflower Festival and pick-your-own sunflower fields aren’t available until the fall, fresh sunflowers are available in the market for purchase. Plus, there is a small field if you need to get in a quick selfie for your feed. 2502 N. Frederick Pike, Winchester
