With the Sugarloaf Craft Festivals going out of business due to COVID-19, many art lovers are searching for a new place to get their high-quality handmade goods. This holiday season Virginians can get their fix at a new regional craft festival. The Capital Craft Fairs is making its Northern Virginia debut in October, looking to continue the tradition of the region’s arts and crafts festival.
The Capital Craft Fairs’ first weekend show will be on Oct. 16-18 at the Dulles Expo Center, with times varying throughout the weekend. The new festival was created by SPARGO, Inc, a Fairfax-based events management company, as a way to provide opportunities to artisans from around the area.
“We are delighted to bring this level of craftsmanship to Northern Virginia,” said Susan Bracken, SPARGO’s president and CEO, in a recent press release. “There is a long history of a fall arts festival at Dulles Expo Center and it is our goal to maintain that tradition.”
The art show will feature a variety of goods and mediums from over 100 artisans and craftsmen; including fine art, pottery, leather and wood.
The event also has safety measures put into place to keep attendees and staff safe. This includes free face masks, wide aisles, extra sanitation and a limited capacity to ensure social distancing.
The Capital Craft Fairs showcase will also be back in Chantilly this winter; with dates scheduled for the weekend of Dec. 4. // Dulles Expo Center: 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center, Chantilly; $10-$12, free for children under 12
