Looking for a new art piece to display in your home? Make it one created by a local Northern Virginia artist, through Loudoun Cares’ second annual Art Auction, being hosted on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The event will launch on Monday, Oct. 12 with the opening of the art exhibit, so you’ll have plenty of time to scope out the pieces you want to bid on before the livestreamed, mobile auction begins on Oct. 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. via the Handbid mobile app.
Jim Sisley of TRYST Gallery and a jury of his artistic peers are currently working on selecting more than 50 artworks from artists living in the Northern Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and DC areas. Selected artists will contribute both larger consigned works and smaller, donated pieces, as well as ceramics and jewelry.
The free, public viewing of the artwork will take place at Virginia Village (34-A Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg) from Monday, Oct. 12 to Thursday, Oct. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For those who want to attend the public viewing of the artwork in person, note that COVID-19 health and safety restrictions will be enforced, including a requirement for all attendees to wear a mask and a limited number of people being able to enter at a time.
Final bids will be submitted via the mobile app and the winners will be declared during the livestreamed event, which will feature local celebrities. PIckup of artwork is scheduled to be held at the event venue on Sunday, Oct. 18.
Mobile bids will begin to be available on the HandBid app, as well as buy-it-now items, starting on Monday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. The app is free to download, and users can search Loudoun Cares Act Auction by name, or access it on the web here.
Proceeds of the auction and art sale will benefit Loudoun Cares, a nonprofit assisting Loudoun County residents with health and human services. For more information, visit loudouncares.org.
