Pizza party
I rarely return to a restaurant more than once unless I need to for a review. One exception? Ordering in from Pizza 360. The desi-style pizzeria has my go-to butter chicken pizza, a spicy innovation that I keep returning to when I need a taste of comfort at home after a long day of, well, eating. At least we still have movies
This year, as a collective, we’ve all sacrificed a lot in the name of public health and safety. But one thing we still have is movies, thanks to the resurgence of the drive-in. Add this one to your list: Alamo Drafthouse’s One Loudoun location launched its drive-in movie series last week, and will run the program through November. The drive-in has one showing per day, with the movie starting around 8:45 p.m. and the lot opening to ticket holders 90 minutes before showtime, with parking locations being first-come, first-served. Not so endless summer
I remember thinking on Memorial Day that an endless summer stretched before us. Despite it being impacted by the corona quarantine, I was determined to make sure my children got in plenty of summer fun. We bought a swing set. We filled up the baby pool. We blew bubbles nearly every day. We also left the backyard for a few socially distanced field trips (like Burnside Farms for sunflowers and Westmoreland State Park for shark-teeth hunting), but just like every summer before, we’re on the cusp of fall much too fast. With a few weeks left (and plenty of warm weather into at least September), I’m still determined to keep the summer fun going. I’ll be turning to this end-of-summer bucket list that ran in our August issue. I’ve already checked off a few, but I’m confident we can get to them all before the last days of summer (making ice cream from scratch, I’m looking at you.) -Katie Bianco, Editor
Let’s get down to business
After months of waiting and rescheduling, the live animated remake of Mulan is finally making its anticipated premiere. To say I’m excited is an understatement. Mulan was the first movie I saw at the theaters and, according to my mom, I stood for the entire movie, latched to the seat in front of me watching the film unfold. Still to this day, Mulan is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies. So, when I heard Disney was releasing the film on Disney+, I immediately marked the date on the calendar and canceled any future plans.
