DC’s annual National Bell Festival is going virtual, and although you can’t head into the city this year for a “listening party” near one of the capital’s historic bells, you can tune in this year from the most comfortable spot in the region: your home.

Being held Friday, May 22 at 8 p.m., the National Bell Festival is free for the organization’s members, called Bell Raisers, and only a $5 donation is requested from the general public. All proceeds will benefit historic bell restoration efforts.

Performers include pianist Jason Solounias and Heather Adelsberger, who will play the handbells. The evening’s program boasts classic work list Franz Liszt’s Les cloches de Geneve, Maurice Ravel’s La vallée des cloches, George Gershwin’s The Man I Love, The Strife is O’er, Great is Thy Faithfulness and many more songs, both through solos and duets.

The National Bell Festival is also providing participants with a cocktail recipe called The Swingin’ Slushie, encouraging all to make the drink to sip on as they enjoy the performances. The cocktail includes tequila and lime sorbet, and can be found here.

Ticket holders and Bell Raisers will receive a link via email to an online screen-sharing platform before the concert begins. For more information, visit nationalbellfestival.org/at-home.
