Volleyball is known as a competitive, fall sport in the Northern Virginia school system. But when summer comes around, individuals of all ages can take the time to play casual pick-up games in the heat. Here, we share which parks to visit so you can bump, block and spike through the summer months and beyond.

Van Dyck Park
At Van Dyck Park, the outdoor activities are endless, especially when it comes to volleyball. The three courts, perfect for group play, will keep you active all day long. // 3720 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax

C.M. Crockett Park
As Fauquier County’s largest lakeside park, C.M. Crockett Park is a community hub to all. With a shorter net than most, visitors of all ages can pass the ball on the beach volleyball court. // 10066 Rogues Road, Midland

Conklin Community Park
This summer, head over to Conklin Community Park to see all your neighbors participating in a variety of recreational activities, including soccer, basketball and, of course, beach volleyball. // 25701 Donegal Drive, Chantilly

Kuntner Park
Located right off of Fairfax Boulevard, Kuntner Park’s sand court is great for individuals of all ages. Whether it’s your first time bumping or you’re a professional, this recreational-sized court is a good spot to play at this summer. // 3901 Jermantown Road, Fairfax

Curtis Memorial Park
With two sand courts right next to each other, Curtis Memorial Park is a versatile place to bring a group of friends and practice the game for hours on end. // 58 Jesse Curtis Lane, Hartwood

Veterans Memorial Park
For those who love to play beach volleyball, but also can’t stay away from other outdoor activities like basketball, tennis and swimming, Veterans Memorial Park is the place for you. Whether you’re with the family or relaxing with friends, this park has something for everyone. // 14300 Veterans Drive, Woodbridge

Elk Lick Park
Open from dawn to dusk, this spot is essential for those who want to fit in a game with friends right after work. Plus, if you’re feeling really active you can walk on over to the neighboring basketball court and shoot some hoops. // 25152 Elk Lick Road, Chantilly

Saint Clair Brooks Park
Located right in the center of Historic Falmouth, this 80-acre park has it all, including a sand volleyball court that enables players to watch the local baseball league on the adjacent diamond. // 80 Butler Road, Falmouth

Monroe Park
While small as a whole, Monroe Park features a regulation-size volleyball court that is surrounded by green space, giving you the chance to practice your spike ball with little risk of injuring those around you. // 14421 Gold Dust Parkway, Goldvein

Nations Park
In Nations Park, one will find just one volleyball court and one basketball court. Be sure to take advantage of the free space and practice your serve on your own for hours on end. // 42691 Nations St., Chantilly
